Community Resources
Our on-going community consultation process has told us and continues to tell us that the best thing about living in the 3 Together Big Local area is the sense of community and togetherness among residents.
The same consultation has told us that the worst thing is the lack of suitable community facilities in Moorsley.
We’ve been working hard to explore the possibility of replacing the current Hut building on Moorsley Road with a bigger, fit for purpose building. The aim is to give residents better opportunities to take part in events, to feel connected to one another and to grow the residents group and help with the local demand for community activities.
With the help of professional consultants in the building trade we have agreed on a modular, single story wooden building which would sit on a floating concrete slab foundation. There have been assessments of wildlife, site surveys and building regulations completed that resulted in the project applying for and receiving planning permission.
As well as funding from 3 Together Big Local, Moorsley & District CIC have secured funding from a number of funders including Reaching Communities and Gentoo. It’s hoped that work will start on the new building in the summer of 2023.
The 3 Together Big Local Decision Making Panel are behind the project and see a new Hut as a gateway to extending their work with young people and older people more effectively in the Moorsley part of the Big Local area.
